FUTUROretro COLLECTION

aims to highlight the essence of the client-hairdresser relationship.

Through a dance performance, we want to breathe life into this story, inspired by art, involving and transferring its creators and their life philosophy into the world of hair.

The philosophy

Our life involves merging the present with experiences from the past and visions of the future. Balancing past and future influences that converge at the hairdresser's chair is crucial. This encounter holds immeasurable value.

It is important for us to relate to the person in the chair. As hairdressers, we embody contemporaneity. Based on needs and history, we craft a current

image of the individual.  The person in the chair expresses both their retro and their futuro. We strive to fulfill this dream, give shape to what is in our minds, and express current emotions. We piece together the puzzle to create a whole. Client + us + our personalities – this creates the eclecticism of each hairstyle. We blend old elements and techniques with modern ones, creating personalized hairstyles.

The RETRO element symbolizes slow hairdressing – a carefully and leisurely executed service, allowing time for consultation, hair care, and creative interpretation of established needs. The FUTURO element is dynamic, faster, photographic, contemporary, and surprising.

Art and its creators

serve as inspiration for the creation of a collection aimed at highlighting

the relationship between the hairdresser and the client. By leaving space for individualism and

engaging emotions in building relationships, eclecticism emerges on the heads of our clients.

Inspirations from
the
world of art

Anna and Irena Nawrot reveal what is personal, emotional, and experienced, inspiring deeper relationships with our clients. By accentuating daily activities, they draw our attention to the moment of meeting another person in the hairdresser's chair, as well as to the structure and rituals creating a safe and creative space for hairdressing services. The twin sisters symbolize individualism, coexistence, and eclecticism for us. Each of us is different yet similar in some

way. Themes addressed in their art include femininity, corporeality, personal experience of time, daily life, and social aspects. Their own individual female experience serves as the starting point. Techniques such as embroidery, sewing, and crocheting, which the artists utilize in thei works, also carry feminine connotations.

Main Themes

1.

INDIVIDUALISM

We create hairstyles tailored, unique and current. We put emphasis on creation consistent with the character of the client. Through the hairstyle, we give space for everyone to be themselves.

2.

RELATIONSHIPS

Authentic relationships are based on the interaction. Working in a frying salon requires cooperation with clients, but also with people forming a team of employees.

3.

ECLECTICISM

The meeting in the hairdressing chair assumes eclecticism. As hairdressers, we take into account the emotional and mental loads of each client and their individual stories, cultural and ideological trends, aesthetic fascinations. We combine all this with our hairdressing art to create an individual image of a person.

4.

UPCYCLING

Our clients' hair is like a plough for a painter. From the previous, already distorted hairstyle we create a new, more altual and consistent with the history and current preferences of the person.

Choreography

Inspired by the topic of relations between hairdressers and clients, we want to create a language of movement presenting its various shades.

The performance will begin with a female solo dance - representing her individualism and power. The second part is a choreography of duets, which will present the topic of interdependence and co-creation. The third part consists of 3 trios representing the fusion and aiming for the final stage - synchronous dance of 9 dancers. The whole movement will be based on a mix of many styles, which will cleverly introduce the subject of upcycling through the original use of techniques and styles known in the art of dance.

STYLING

There may be no better way to communicate what we do than through images. As you browse our site, take a few moments to let your eyes linger here, and see if you can get a feel for our signature touch.

CAMERA:

We want to give the viewer the impression that it is part of the history and relationships we talk about. That is why we propose to use a stabilized camera that will occasionally join the dancers on stage. Another option for an interesting display of hairstyles and movement is to put the camera in the hands of the dancers themselves. We mix all these options with cameras recording the vision from the center and from above. The camera image will be displayed on three independent screens.

TEXT:

During the performance the hairdressers discuss each of the hairstyles directly from the stage. To prepare attractive texts, we will involve a screenwriter who will modify sentences so that instead of instructions they become interesting monologues.

There is a dancer and a hairdresser on the stage who speaks about the techniques of cutting and coloring that were used to prepare a given hairstyle. During the presentation of the second and third hairstyles, we will focus on the topic of cocreation and cooperation. In the lecture part, we will see 2 couples on stage. Each of them consists of a fruser discussing the hairstyle of a dancer or dancer accompanying him. The viewer listens to the text delivered by hairdressers and admires two hairstyles at once. Then, as it happened at the first presentation, the action smoothly turns into choreography. Hairdressers come down from the stage where two dancers representing the subject of correlation are left. After a while, another duo joins them. Finally, in this part, 2 duets of dancers operate on the stage.

duration:

monologues 4 min

choreography 4 min

Time to talk about eclecticism. This time 3 hairstyles will be discussed so on stage we see 6 people: three hairdressers and three dancers - three couples. When hairdressers are done talking about the collection, they leave a dance trio on stage, which begins the choreography representing the fusion, the dance styles blend to create a new quality of movement. Two more trios join the dancers. The final of this part of the performance is choreography for three trios.

duration: 3 min

Choreography for the trio smoothly passes into the final scene. The music here is the most intense, the dramaturgy is growing and the energy reaches its zenith. Dancers unite in the middle of the stage. We watch the first fully synchronized dance of all nine dancers. Movement and beat music meet. The viewer feels the power of joint actions of a group of performers. The end of the performance will be joining hairdressers and standing all people in one strong pose. The group as a whole.

Costumes

At the heart of the collection lies a fascinating combination of diversity: from delicate, almost ethereal fabrics such as tulle and chiffon, full of lightness and transparency, to bold, massive elements of leather and provocative latex.

This is a reflection of the philosophy of the works of the Nawrot sisters: life as a liquid sculpture, formed by the intermingling layers of experiences in which emotions blend, leaving indelible traces in us.

Raw, unfinished edges of materials, as a metaphor for the continuous process of creation, a symbol of constant becoming. Fragments of old clothes, which once formed a completely different story, now find a new use, reminding of the endless cycle of change, where each ending is the beginning of something new.

duration: 15 min

The short version of the show will also be divided into stages and based on the introduction of individual stylizations in a preserved order: solo, two duos, three trios and a synchronized, group choreography for the final scene. The main difference is the lack of hairdressers on the stage. The whole part of discussing hairstyles will be guided by a voice - previously recorded and mixed with the music. Its form will be more abstract than the text in the long version of the performance. The whole message will be based on sound, dance, camera vision, which will be with dancers on stage and visualizations based on colors and their gradients. Thanks to this, we will obtain a more sensational and abstructive effect in relation to the performative form of the lecture in the full-length version.
